Does the 3.97mm shoot sharper stills then the stock on GP4?

No. The lens is rated 16 megapixels, but the GoPro maxes out at 12 megapixels. So anything over 12 is wasted. It's really hard to compare sharpness by eye since the stock and the 3.97 have a different field of view (stock being much wider).
