I guess no "boat" mode for now. I am trying to find out from 3dr when they are going to release some instructions on the new smart shots.
So I did the update - and it said it was successful. Iphone 5s.
After updating I dont see any added smart shots - same old screen with the last smart shots.
Any hint as to whats happening?
Thanks!
Thanks for the heads up!It usually happens each release. The 3DR Service and Solo app need to be updated to fully take advantage of this firmware update. Wait a few days at best and it should resolve your issue on its own.
I suppose this is what pdxsteve was referring to. A strange and inconsistent updating experience. Hopefully, it'll get better as 3DR grows.
Boat mode is not in this releaseBOAT mode...kinda.
With the un-even surface now gets re-calibration by Solo, maybe if the sea is calm we can take off from a non-steel boat in MANUAL mode.
I tested tilted position. One side both legs up by 2 inch. Auto calibration takes place and ready to fly in MANUAL. No GPS signal in my room. After that, handholding the Solo, I tested 10 degrees shaky shaky movement simulating a wave on a boat, the Solo did not trigger any alarm and I can arm the motor. If I do like 20+ degrees shake, then the UNEVEN surface alarm pops out again.
Then this comes to mind....
If say this automatic calibration is done NOT at very good level surface, will Solo while in flight knows the true flat level after take off ?
Or is there a master calibration we can do for a true FLAT SURFACE and thereafter the automatic calibration for un-even surface before take off is automatically re-calculated while in flight and Solo self correct itself to the true FLAT horizon ?
.
One new thing in the 2.4.0 update is that Solo is now using Arducopter 2.0.20:
~/3DR/2.4.0/Solo/fs/firmware $ ls -la
total 869
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 76 Jun 15 11:10 .
drwxr-xr-x 19 root root 276 Jun 15 11:10 ..

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 48171 Jun 13 13:34 gimbal_firmware_1.3.6.ax
vs 2.3.0
~/3DR/2.3.0/Solo/fs_rw/firmware $ ls -la
total 744

Huh? Are you asking why the maximum altitude defaults to 400ft? Probably because in the United States, that is the FAA's maximum allowed altitude for hobby use.Why did the set the maximum height to 400 feet???
Since the up date the maximum height is only 400 feet??? Before the update u could set no limit.Huh? Are you asking why the maximum altitude defaults to 400ft? Probably because in the United States, that is the FAA's maximum allowed altitude for hobby use.
I'm living in Ireland and there is not much in the sky's where I go with it near the mountains!
