New Long Range antenna for SOLO

Going to tag on to buddy Davids thread instead of starting another. I received my DBS antenna(s) today. One for Phantom 3 and one for Solo. I have not touched the Phantom yet as you need to open the controller.

However I did "rig" the solo with the antenna to fly. It comes with a P3 mount which looks like it will take minimal work to adapt to the Solo. However I am in the middle of a fence project in the backyard and dedicating time to the Solo would have been irresponsible. OK, the Mrs would have yelled at me..... Everyone already knows I am irresponsible :)

So I was half holding the antenna panel. Took off and cranked the elevation to around 400' as I pulled away. Ran it out to a little more than 12,000 (edit 11,616 ) feet and hit RTH. Probably due to the way I was half ass holding the thing. I thought about hitting fly and continuing on but I had a pile of cedar calling me so back to fence building.

I was really impressed. Did not seem nearly as finicky as the stock antennas.

So DBS in Florida. Nice job man. Cant wait to try the Phantom setup as well.

EDIT. I hit 2.2 "miles". That is actually 11,616 feet (non 12,000). Mrain Balfuntion !

Where did you purchase this DBS antenna?

Hi yall,
New solo owner here. Enjoying the Solo very much. I have been reading the posts.
Hopefully I don't repeat anything. Was wondering if anyone has thoughts on using an been fpv 5.8ghz polarized clover leaf antenna high gain?
the design is similar to Fpvlr without the mounting bracket.
You need 2.4ghz clover leafs

For those interested in a little more range at little cost I would suggest the $23 Alfa APA-M25 dual band 2.4GHz/5GHz 10dBi high gain directional indoor panel antenna with RP-SMA connector at Amazon. I have been using it for several weeks now and I'm very pleased. Yesterday evening I went out a mile and still had a bar left and did not RTH. That was far enough for me for right now. I'm sure it would go farther but I just don't have the need for it yet.

You will need the $6 12"/30cm Male to Female RP-SMA Extension Cable to connect it to the controller. I bought some small velcro circles for under $3 at Wally world to mount it to the controller.

Links below if you are interested. I'm sure the DBS and FPVLR antennas are superior and I will upgrade when I need to go farther.

I tried that setup. I didn't notice a difference. Possibly defective.

If you ordered from Amazon I would request a replacement. For me I was getting redline at only 2500 feet before and after I was able to go past 5000 with no redline.

I tried the same antennas as aggravated did and got some increased range as well.
Nothing like the DBS mods antenna, but decent.

I think he is replacing the Solo. So has another bird to put it on if he wants.

I have this set up too, one stock antenna and one Alfa Panel and it works great, was 1200ft out and 250 up and still had full bars this morning.

I would like to try this. Do you have a picture of how you connected it to the controller?

New Just unscrew your stock antennas and screw these on.
From what I see you attach them with cables. Don't want them hanging there. Where do you attach the antenna with Velcro is what I am after.

No, they have little threaded collars just like your stock ones.
