I was having trouble with my gimbal so I sent it back to 3dr. Now I hooked it up without gimbal to my hdmi cable and it turns my camera off when the solo connects. I turn the camera back on and restart app and no live view? I turn camera on before starting solo and no live view. Cord is connected. All the latest updates. I had live view on gimbal. Any ideas.

Is that true. I thought I had live view before gimbal. Do you no for sure?

No, there is live view without the gimbal. First thing I'd do is reinstall the app.

  1. Update GoPro firmware.
  2. Update Solo app and Solo/Controller firmware.
  3. Now double check that you really did update the GoPro firmware.
  4. Make sure GoPro is firmly seated into back connector on gimbal, and make sure HDMI cable is firmly plugged in.
  5. In Solo app, change camera type to a different model, and then back to the correct model.
  6. Turn everything off, then power up GoPro first, then Solo, then Controller, then connect tablet/phone to Solo wifi, then launch Solo app.
  7. Test GoPro HDMI out on a TV (requires cable)
  8. Borrow another GoPro and test it in your Solo. (but make sure it's firmware is up to date!)
  9. Send support ticket to 3DR

I have already done everything that you have pointed out except checking the hdmi cable and check another gopro. I uninstalled app and reinstalled solo app and I have live view but it seems to be turning my camera off in flight at times. Why would my camera be cutting off in flight? I did not have these problems with the gimbal. I sent my gimbal back to 3dr for repair.

Is it actually turning the camera off or just stopping the recording?

So you are absolutely 1000% positive you updated the GoPro firmware? I only say it because we've been through this with others. They say they have. Then it turns out they haven't. Usually they get confused and think they are up to date because they have updated the app and the firmware on the Solo.

I reinstalled app. Hdmi plug was not all the way in. I turned on the camera after i opened app. To fly screen. This was a mess because I sent my gimbal back and I am not using a gimbal. Every thing works fine now.
