Hey everyone,

I just joined a new project at my university that aims to use a 3DR Solo (which hasn't flown in three years) for thermal inspections. After spending some time on the forum, I figured out everything I need before it can fly again (new batteries, Open Solo, etc.), and now it's time to set up a thermal camera.

Here's what I need to do:
  1. Attach a thermal camera to the drone (the camera needs to have a 640x512 resolution).
  2. Record the infrared images to a flash drive or SD card.
  3. View the images on the controller in real time.
After extensive research, I came up with this setup, but I'm still unsure if it will work:
- Camera (CVBS output)
- CVBS recorder with HDMI output
- Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter to connect the setup to the drone

(I know about FLIR cameras but they way too expensive in my country)

Is there any chance this setup will actually work? If not, what do I need to change? Thank you in advance!

The only issue I see is the HDMI output.
The GoPro HDMI is a standard HDMI, but a lot of the cheaper cameras that claim to have a HDMI output dont work as there are registered versions of HDMI (GoPro) and non-registered (copy action cams).
Only way I found to tell was to connect it up and see if it works.
