It's been discussed in other threads, but I thought I'd save many people the trouble of digging this info out.

Most people use the Telemetry Logs (.tlog), as they are easier to get. However, the Dataflash Logs (.bin) contain more data on them and provide a more in-depth diagnostic. In addition, the .bin files can be converted to a plain .log file for some 3rd party programs. The problem is, the .bin log files are stored directly on the Pixhawk and are a little harder to retrieve. On the Iris, we had an external USB port to plug into and get the .bin files directly from the Pixhawk. But this isn't the case with the Solo.

This video shows how to connect to the Solo Linux computer, transfer the dataflash log files from the Pixhawk to the Linux storage, then download to your local PC. While this video uses Bitvise on Windows, the same process applies to using Putty, WinSCP and other SSH clients and is also similar on Macintosh.

The video does have a short section at the end on reading the .bin files with Mission Planner on Windows and how to convert the .bin files to a plain .log file.

Eventually the dataflash logs are supposed to be logged to the controller natively so we don't have to go through this. Hoping in the Spring update...
