Hey Guys-
Watch yourselves, especially those new to Solo- before you go to ebay to purchase $300 smart batteries ( usually cost about $50), $37 Master Airscrew Props ( they are half that amount, and occasionally have specials (15% off ) plus free shipping if you order like $35-$40 ) or my favorite....THE CLOWN SELLING LEG EXTENTIONS FOR $3000.00!! It's true, the 3dr gimbal has become hard to acquire and the price has gone up a bit- but don't get scammed by people trying to take advantage of your inexperience. If you are in search of a particular item- try this forum first- these guys here are more than happy to offer guidance/assistance but won't hesitate to expose the " greedy low-life's out there trying to profit from your lack of knowledge." And when you are looking for items on ebay- read the description carefully; because TWO gimbals for $35- means they are NOT functioning gimbals- and guys buying them are dissecting them to become cutting-edge experts in gimbal repair!
I hate seeing somebody get "smoked" because they just don't know- and everyone doesn't have the financial freedoms to just throw money down the drain.

In addition, Speedstuffsales on eBay is selling lots of new 3DR stuff claiming it has 1 year warranty to be honored by 3DR. However, this in NOT the case. 3DR is NOT going to honour this warranty.

Where do you get your information from?

Well certainly in my experience that is not the case, I bought a refurbished Solo (3 months manufacturer warranty) from Jason whilst in the USA and brought it home to the UK. A few weeks ago I had an issue with a motor and it hit the ground quite hard. I contacted Jason who put me in touch with 3DR direct. I sent them the log from the flight and 3DR sent me a new Gimbal, Motor Pod and two propellor set's along with other various items in the box, the item's came Fed-Ex from Mexico to me here in the UK in three days.

I have never ever has customer service any where in my country as good as this so yes the Warranty from Jason is good.

Hope this helps Bill

This is the e-mail I got from 3DR

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting 3DR Customer Support.

We are very sorry, but eBay is not an authorized reseller for the 3DR products and the warranty will not be valid through us.

Here is a list for the authorized resellers:

Solo Authorized Resellers | 3DR | Drone & UAV Technology

If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know. Thank you.

If 3DR honored a warranty on a product purchased on eBay, it's because they didn't know you bought it on eBay. Or they made a mistake.

B&H will ask if you want to purchase the protection plan-
I asked them how they planned to
"honor the plan" once their surplus was depleted-
He said ," I don't know."

I give him credit- because I don't know how they are going to replace a gimbal- if they don't have any-

So, just in this thread alone- we identified an issue; which is one of the purposes of a forum. If you are on a fence about a purchase; you would benefit purchasing from an authorized dealer versus from ebay. Just like David Boulanger stated, at a certain point, we have to decide whether to continue to buy drones from B&H ( while they are still available ),buy the kid shoes for school or pay the mortgage. If you decide to purchase on ebay- make sure it's beneficial to you... a rock-bottom price or extras included- something that a " dealer " isn't offering. And read the ad carefully- because several have pictures of Solos with attached gimbals pictured, but when you read further, states a gopro and gimbal are required.
(NOT INCLUDED)
Also, the postal service during their hiring process does not question a person's ability to handle someone's package as if it were their own, ( trust me, my postal carrier throws my packages at the house- from the street!! But at least she slows down to a 5 mph roll!) So how are you covered if Solo is damaged during an ebay transaction? The SELLER didn't break it and you the BUYER didn't break it..) but the mailman was looking a little angry today- and he needed a wheel chock this morning while changing a flat-and your package was the nearest to the vehicle door- AND DON'T THINK UPS OR FED EX IS ANY BETTER!! They have some idiot breathing down their back telling them they can deliver these 540 extra Amazon packages in 10 minutes and then proposing a 7 day suspension when the carrier cannot maintain their schedule!
Just some things to think about- like when you read- I no longer have the original box- that SCREAMS- go to the next ad unless it's your next door neighbor; because THAT drone has
"DAMAGED" written all over it before it even leaves the post office!!
BUYER BEWARE and FLY SAFE.

If you have several Solo's one advantage at the current price point is if there is some kind of problem it is still worth something in parts.

Hey David-
It's funny that you mentioned that- it appears that multiple folks have decided to turn that exact action into a business- I see several Solo bodies on ebay-
Some people are parting out "new" Solos and selling them part by part:
Body -$39
Props- $21/pair
Motors-$40 ea
Controller-$50
Legs-$10
Leg Compass- $25
Battery- $50
Electronics- assorted prices
Battery charger- $40
Controller charger- $30
Backpack-$90
Gimbal- $200 plus
Lenses- $20
Gopro mount- $10
Purchased package for $399 and part out for probably double-
$39
$84
$160
$50
$30
$25
$50
$40
$30
$90
$200
$20
$10
Total- $783 and that does not include the mother board and gps and any other electronics in Solo.

Yes. I have a DIY Quad that runs Ardupilot and can do almost everything a Solo will do. However it cost about $700 to build and equip. Solo is a great aircraft.

I am not saying I disbelieve you at all and am merely relaying my own experience as to what happened to me. I did not buy my Solo through ebay as suggested by some one else and did in fact buy direct from Jason whilst visiting the USA. The contact at 3DR that Jason gave me replied immediately to my plea for help and really bent over backwards to assist me getting back into the air quickly. I can't say if this was a one off or a mistake as suggested but all I do know is that it was fabulous customer service and I have no complaints at all. My replacement parts came direct from 3DR in Mexico very quickly via Fed-Ex so maybe some employee's at 3DR maybe don't know the full story a to what is actually going on. Either way I am a happy Solo owner in the UK
and am really enjoying flying it when I get the chance! I am not a big fan of DJI at all and think their company politic's stink to be quite frank and this is why I looked at Solo and am very pleased that I did.

That is slanderous - I'm from New Zealand I bought one off him which was faulty and was directed to 3DR who communicated with me on some possible remedies when they didn't work out 3DR sent me a new solo (all the way to NZ) no questions and I didn't have to return the old one nor pay for the freight.

Buddy, I am not looking to get into an argument on this forum and I don't really give a shit as I bought mine from B&H...

When I was researching my options, I contacted 3DR and asked them if they would honour the warranty from the aforementioned seller. The answer was NO and the proof is pasted above with name of the 3DR rep signed below.

Do you have written communication from 3DR stating that they would support it ? can you get it for us by referring your case to 3DR ? No ? thought so....

Now tell me who's being slanderous ?

Sometimes, a company may honour warranty from an unknown seller just to create and maintain goodwill in the market. That does not mean they are obliged to provide support in cases like this where the product is sold by an unauthorized seller.

Sometimes humble pie is good

I get green and red ok but the orange which should be flashing is still solid orange meaning the controller is still faulty. Can you send a new tested one to: Rayner Wallen 30 Huntsbury A…
