Since I know most of you guys work for a living, I thought I'd throw this out there. I'm awaiting some tax docs so I can get that wrapped up. So I'm stuck at home but the weather should be decent today (40's, low wind, a bit gloomy). I figured I'd do some practicing and testing. I couldn't even attempt to actually "shoot or produce" like most of you but I can half-@ssed fly the damn thing and I'm a decent test pilot.

I've got 5 bats charged with 2 chargers on standby. I've got both my Shield and my Tab S2 ready. The GPH4B with the Peau installed 4.35mm is ready. The bird, RC and software are all updated and I did the Services update yesterday. I'm going to do some tests with DronePan, work a bit with MPCC and Freelook. I can do screen records with the Shield but I haven't installed a recorder on the S2 yet (maybe I'll do that today as well, any recorder suggestions?).

Anybody have anything they've been looking to test but haven't had the time to do so? Share it and I'll see what I can do.

Sounds like a fun day JR,

Run Tower and put it in RTM instead of RTH. Then run the Solo app and while flying walk a small distance away from your original home point. You should hear Tower announcing 'New home point' along the way. Then after a short distance use the RTH button on the controller and see if Solo comes to you or the original home point. My guess is it will return to where your new position is. You don't have to let it land, just determine which point it is headed to and cancel if you want.
I won't have time until this weekend..

Thanks

I'm using "Az screen recorder". I like it- simple to use- free.

Jubalr,

Yes, it worked as it should. Once I changed to RTM and started moving around it would announce the HP was updated. Here's an interesting dilemma, the first time I uploaded my mission to Tower, I was in the air already as I always am, and the bird proceeded as it should. I initiated RTM and it did as it should. I let it descend until it was about 20' altitude, from my RTH height of 150', I then hit pause. I flew it back up the driveway myself, uploaded the mission again (now I'm already in RTM) and hit auto. It took off but not in the correct direction. Since I'm in such an open area I was able to let it go to see if it was going to pick up the mission somewhere along the way. It didn't. I let it go for about 1,000' before I paused it again and brought it home myself. I landed it, shut everything down, bird, RC, Solo and Tower apps and rebooted my Shield. (At this point the home point is still on RTM). I grabbed a fresh battery, restarted everything, opened up Solo and Tower, uploaded the same mission to the bird and took off manually. Once airborne, hit auto and again it's not doing the mission that I uploaded. Let it go for a while, cancelled and brought it back home. Tried again, same thing. Landed the bird and uploaded a different mission, got airborne, hit auto, same result. It's doing something different with the new mission uploaded but it's not doing the mission that I just uploaded? Very strange!

I came in to warm up, have a cup of coffee, warm up and jot down this note. I'm glad I'm doing this in this area, I don't have many obstacles to deal with and can see a great distance, if in a congested area it could have been bad. After my coffee, I'm going to try it again just the way it is. If it isn't working properly, I'll change it back to RTH, reboot everything and see what happens. This is the first time I've ever had an issue with Tower and I use it frequently.

if you are still out can you run multiple multi point cable cams. i want to know if they execute 100% of the time. if you can load some as well that would be nice.

Okay, there is an issue or something changed with the updates or in my settings or Tower. I went back out with everything fresh. Started the Same Tower mission which most of you will know because I've run it dozens of times before and have previously posted it.

(Also, at the beginning of the clip, when in the Solo app camera view, note the faint line on the left side of the screen. I'm not sure what that indicates, I've never seen it before but it's there with both of my GPH4B cameras. It's not there except in the FPV live view?)

It used to follow the white path shown in the map screen exactly. I have edited it down just for the sake of time but you should be able to get what it's doing. It started out correctly, you won't see waypoint 2 because it's a speed change, waypoint 4 is an ROI which is directly underneath waypoint 5. Waypoint 5 is a circle waypoint.

The bird goes properly to waypoint 3, previously, it would begin the waypoint 5 circle in a clockwise direction immediately after waypoint 3. Now, as you'll see it heads towards circle waypoint 5. When I tested it earlier, I aborted the mission after it passed over waypoint 5, this time I let it continue. You'll notice that it now goes right over waypoint 5 and arches towards the north. It then picks up the circle and proceeds clockwise. It continues on that path and at about 3/4 of the way around the waypoint 5 circle it heads east towards waypoint 6 (ROI) and 7 (Circle). It never even completed the waypoint 5 circle. I abort it after the waypoint 7 circle because it's going to head straight over the tree.

Anybody got any ideas?

Jerry

Hey Jerry,

thanks for the testing. Not sure what the mission is doing, but I would try re-creating it from scratch and fly it to see if there is a glitch in the saved mission.Sounds like the RTM is working as it should. Did you try just activating it and then flying with the Solo app?

Frank,

Okay, part 1 is done. Set-up a six point MPCC. Ran it back and forth about 6-7 times. On the last two, I reversed it mid-stream without hitting the pause, just hit the opposite arrow. It worked flawlessly. No hiccups at all. I set up a couple of other MPCC's and after I warm back up I'll go out and flip back and forth between them by loading them from my pad. I think that's what you wanted.

Jubalr,

No, I didn't. Do you mean leaving RTM activated, closing down Tower and then just flying as I normally would with just the solo app? To see if the setting holds?

Man, I've got 30 or better saved missions, sure hope that I don't have to recreate them all. I tried a few different ones and they are all doing the missions differently then before. Any thoughts on that faint line on the left hand side of the Solo camera live stream?

Frank,

The first part of test 2 was inconclusive. I put the bird up and started MPCC from "saved shots", pulled one up and put the bird on the blue dot, told me to go up about 10', did so and the blue "Load Cable" came up. Loaded cable and hit play. Let it complete and hit done. Went to "saved shots" again, picked a different one. Came up with the blue dot, proceeded to it and got the "Load Cable" indicator again. No elevation message this time. Hit the "Load Cable" and nothing. Hit it several times, nothing. Moved the bird on and off of the dot and tried several more times, nothing. After a few minutes of trying to load others, I could always get the "Load Cable" but it wouldn't respond when tapped. I left the bird in the air and shut down then restarted the Solo App, loaded an MPCC and off she went. When done, loaded another from "saved shots", put it on the mark, got the elevation message and bingo, off she goes. Loaded up another and it worked as well. Battery was too low to go further. I'll have to give it another go at some point.

Man, when I'm bored and at home, I chase the wife around the house a few times til she tires. To each their own...;)

@pyrate said it's a known bug in a previous thread. I'd like to know what or where the bug info was posted. My FPV video is schizo at the moment and can't tell if "the faint line" is related to my main issue. Sounds as if the two are unrelated.

No more tests today. Went out to give DronePan a shot but could only get 7-8 Sats with an HDOP of 2.7-2.9. Wasn't going to attempt it with low readings and Sats. The app came up but gives limited info at this point. It just shows Sat count and wasn't registering anything but a - . Maybe tomorrow.

it was on facebook, somone acknowledged the line was a solo bug
but should not have anything to do with video feed

Pyrate,

I'm confused, I'd try to look it up but I'm not on Facebook. What was the "bug" if it wasn't with the video feed?

Thanks,

Jerry
