This location is way outside the 5-mile airport boundary and not in an immediately populated location so I felt pretty good about flying it. Still, being an overly cautious rule-follower, not wanting to tarnish what is too often, an already dirtied reputation from our fellow flyers who do stunts that make all drone pilots look bad, I didn't want any issues, so I called law enforcement. Yes, I know.... it's not a requirement but I viewed it as a courtesy. I told them my intentions of flying around the water towers, my launch point, what time, expected altitude, and flight duration. Their response was a simple, "uh, ... Okay." Upon arrival at the launch point, I really expected to see some police cars who just wanted to see the show, but was a little disappointed they didn't show up. At any rate, I had a great time circling the sisters on a beautiful February day.
