Okay, I finally got a chance to get my Solo updated after our Texas trip. The weather is a bit cool but flyable. I was very excited to try out MPCC. I did a few 5 point and an 8 point. All seemed to go well and completed successfully, although, my preview screen seemed to have a small stutter and lag in it? (Don't recall that issue on the previous version).

The real question, which could be a stupid one is; What is the advantage of using MPCC over using Tower? Maybe I'm missing something. It seems to me it's almost like an "on the fly" Tower mission.

You could do missions in Tower similar to MPCC except 1 very important thing; the camera tilt and framing. That's the advantage to MPCC, you frame each shot perfectly beforehand.

Not sure if Free Look is available in Tower I haven't tried it; but I can say MPCC with Free Look is a powerful tool.

Solo flies the coarse for you while you use the left stick to pitch and pan(360 degrees) the shot, altitude is controlled with the gimbals pitch lever. I find this one of the most useful smart shots of any drone.

Jubalr,

I got you on that, makes sense. Maybe I should get myself more educated on this before I start asking these questions. While I'm establishing my CC points and "play" that cable cam, I'm in control of the camera, correct? Am I also in control of rotation, speed or any other input? If I pause at a CC point, while I establish it for a period of time, does that pause reflect when I "play" the CC? I'm just asking because I'm burning batteries and should have researched these questions before I started today. Thanks for the response!

Vegas,

Boy, I'm just digging myself a deeper hole for not taking the time to understand this feature before deploying it! Is free look part of MPCC or is it a separate function? Sorry for not being better prepared and thanks for the reply!

When you enter the smart shot like MPCC or Follow Me select the options at the bottom. There is a button that turns on Free Look so when you go back to the autonomous mode you now use the left stick to control camera pan and tilt, altitude is controlled by the gimbal paddle.

One advantage I see to this Follow Me/Free Look over the P4 optical tracking is the Solo follows the GPS device and you are free to look around with the camera while the P4 camera must stay trained on the subject.

In brief, cable cam is buttery smooth. A waypoint mission in Tower with multiple ROIs is herky jerky, especially as it switches between ROIs.

I just wanted to thank you guys for you input on MPCC. I certainly should have looked into it a bit before I started this thread. I did some research and also found the free look information. Was windy here most of the day but got a chance about an hour ago to give it another shot. I think I at least get how it works and what it supposed to do. Did a couple of long ones with 10 or better points (in my amateurish style, of course) and am more comfortable with the concept. Anyway, thanks for responding to the questions I should have researched before I posted.
