New In Box Battery

I tried searching and came up short, so apologizes if I didn't search deep enough, I bought a new battery and was wondering if I plug and play, or should I charge it before first use?

Charge it up. Don't let it go below about 25% when flying and store at about 50 % charge, i.e. charge till about 4 lights show on the battery indicator. Lots of threads about battery checking tools - search 'Madhacker' and you'll find them - 'Solotool' is another but out of lf production.
