Sorry if this has been asked before. & sorry if this is a dumb question or two here.....

Just diving in head first after buying a Solo on Thursday & wanting to learn about everything as much as possible.

Hear about Mission Planner & it sounds like great software.....

I downloaded Mission Planner to my Desktop PC Windows 10.

How do I transfer flight logs to my PC ?

Do I need a cable that has mini HDMI & a USB end on it.....& connect it from Controller to PC

or

Do I need some cable that runs from Solo to PC.....?

The setup instructions in Mission Planner was trying to detect some kind of port.....so I assume I need some cable from Controller to PC....

Any answers would be greatly appreciated & sorry for the dumb question here....

Turn on the Solo Controller and Solo and when they have connected, start MP. Connect your PC to the Solo WiFi. It will say the connection is 'Limited' but that is fine. Once the PC is on the Solo WiFi select UDP in MP at the top right. Click the Connect Icon, and select OK on the next box that pops up. That's it. You can then see realtime telemetry, flight plans, etc..

Oh well... @Jubalr gave you a direct answer. Lots more in-depth info out here for insatiable appetites regarding MP, SSH, UDP, and all the other alphabet soup, and about interpreting logs.

You've got to have a thick skin around here. If you can withstand the beatings, you will be okay!

Just read up on it pretty simple actually, just start up the solo make sure your PC is on the Solo's WiFi network and fire up mission planner you can then use UDP to connect to the.solo. Baud rate is 115200 and the local port is 14550, once it connects to the solo it will load all the parameters via the MavLink...If it doesnt connect go into your firewall rules and allow mission planner to use the ports it needs, Be careful what you do you can easily bork the Solo...

Yes the Solo drone and controller, One geat tool is WinSCP look into it, you can easily browse around the solo file system and download TLogs from both the solo and controller, you can then load them into Mission Planner to analize your flights, and even update the firmware.

If you have trouble getting MP to connect with Solo over UDP (after everything is powered up and computer is connected to the Solo WiFi link), try creating a Windows firewall exception for port 14550. I also noted at least once that I need to connect to my tablet to Solo Link first (before I connect the laptop) in order for UDP to work.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Before you messing around the parameters, save the default parameters to your drive. For newbies, it is OK to look around, but randomly changing the parameters is a sure way to destroy your Solo. For example, people said change the angle can increase your speed, you may not know the quad lost attitude fast at steeper angle. It may flip over if it hit by turbence.

Some additions to your tips (thanks): With my new Win10 laptop it took a while to display the Sololink network in the WiFi list. Refreshing the list can save time. I did find that a Windows Firewall exception was required. On your laptop: Windows Settings > Network & Internet > Windows Firewall > (click the none-underlined text 'Allow an app or feature...'.) > (click button Change Settings) > (scroll down to find line item(s) for Mission Planner (I found two line items). Check all the boxes on the line(s). Click the Save button.) > (click the OK button).

As for using Mission Planner (MP), I did not need to connect a tablet, nor open Solex or another app on the tablet. Also, there is no need to wait for a GPS/GNSS lock if all you want to do is save a Solo parameter file.

I agree with other commenters about not changing any of the advanced Solo parameters just to see what happens. Resist the temptation! I have three Solo-based systems after building several DIY systems (now gathering dust). Today I used Mission Planner (MP) to save a Full Parameter List file for each Solo since I was curious to see if all of the parm values were identical (they were not, for reasons not entirely clear at this time). I like my flying robots to perform similarly in flight, since nudging or other manual assists can be needed on landings. I typically use Solex or Tower for work, depending on the mission/job/project. However I go back to Mission Planner (MP) for experimenting and other cases.
