Is IMU just another name and same thing as "accelerometer"?
Or is there more to it?
I'm guessing some cubes have "more than one" making them more advanced with things like cross checks and systems of voting bad or failed hardware out of the process.
I always think of an "IMU" as something more as an inertial navigation system including an accelerometer. computer and memory to calculate where it's at in relation to a start point and record where it's been.

Inertial Measurement Unit. It contains a gyro, accel, compass. It's how it knows the copter's attitude (angles), movement, and direction it's facing. The cubes have three. The first and second are on vibration isolation mounts. It will switch between them as main and backup as needed. The third is hard mounted to the frame of the cube and rarely used.
