OK, Open Solo installed, Bird checks out and flys great. I have the cube, BUT, following the threads and now I'm not sure. In the vid by Matt I got the impression that Once Open Solo was installed then as we got our green cube download and install , first the parameters, then the green cube software, let her simmer then go fly. YES, I sure I'm wrong because sometime later in a recent thread I got the impression the further instructions were in the offing. Who's on first?

Yeah that's where I get confused too as there's lot of bit's and pieces of information going around, some old being mixed with some new. However the official instructions are here: Release Open Solo 2.5-RC2 Beta · OpenSolo/documentation · GitHub It seems to state that if you have a stock solo, install open solo on the controller, bird and then parameters. Then pop in the green cube!

As I read that, more info is due out on Green cube. Up to that point I agree with you. Still a little fussie. MAYBE the powers that be will chime in. I can wait. Every time I rush in I trip over other fools. Thanks again!

Good thinking there! I'm not sure if when you pop in the green cube, if you just need to reboot and then upload the parameters or if you need to reinstall the open solo, let it reboot and then install parameters. However I think P2P has been kept busy helping others with botched installs, it may be a short wait until we get instructions for upgrading to a green cube after installing open solo. So I'm following your good example and waiting also, don't need to botch things up!

But it all depends on the configuration of your Solo. I added the HERE gnss- ( locks the satellites up in a hurry- 17 to 20 lickety split ) and also put in the Green Cube. Trust me, I waited. It sat on the table almost a month. And when I installed it, I had Matt’s video going on my iphone in one hand and my Android tablet with Solex in the other. Turned off the tv and watched and then duplicated actions. My Solo made all the same noises that Matt’s did, only 30 seconds or so later. But in the end, I had all green lights; however the Solo both IMU calibrated and Compass calibrated ( at the park for compass- not in your house! )
Matt told me to reload the parameters this morning and all the lights went to normal ( red, green, white, white ) Again, she calibrated just fine. Ran it in the house WITHOUT PROPS!!!! and it seemed good to go; but at the park on both occasions, it took off and shut down from 1 foot elevation first time and about 3 feet the second. No real damage- only one leg extension broke- but I was in the grass- MAKE SURE YOU ARE ALSO- It then had 3 blinking blue lights and one was not illuminated.?
Hey. It’s experimental and these guys are our cutting edge of technology- if you want your Solo all shiney and new- maybe this isn’t for you; but I salivate when I see these Solos with the HERE system ( AWAC looking ), customized with Maddog’s lighting system, hydro-dipped and then they talk about their drones being rock steady during flight!!!! That’s what I want. I can’t afford the Ford GT40, Hellcat, PorsheTarga or any of the numerous “ super cars “ but I can afford a pretty nice 3DR Solo! Plus, we are now buying them at a fraction of the original cost- so get off your wallets and support these guys who are developing this incredible technology for peanuts for us all to enjoy. It’s an low cost investment in performance and safety.

And, not to mention; these damn things are a blast!!!

I already have the GC running fine on one bird but it was a long time getting there (Open Solo is what finally fixed it). I have to say I had a blast flying it at the coast and didn't have any issues with it. I actually do want the reliability of the GC as well as boat mode etc. So I'm just looking for the best path forward to putting a 2nd GC in my other bird without screwing it up. Your bird shutting down 1 foot in the air is just damn odd. Was it a power loss? (when it shut down did the lights cut out or stay on?).

stayed on. then went to 3 blue flashing lights with one not illuminating at all. The HERE lights were flashing red/blue.

I see the logs on Solex and I can highlight them but I don’t know how to “ share” them. YET.

up to this point- I’ve been that “ just fly” guy.

I'm not sure, but the Solex logs might just be GPS stuff, I was told before to use WINSCP to pull the logs from the drone. When you do that, they'll only be about 500K in size. You can then post them here by using the "upload a file" in the corner. That will give people time to pour over them and see if it's a GC issue or an issue with your solo, I'm sure everyone wants to know that one!

will try to figure out and load.
Well that's the good news, unfortunately like yourself, I don't have a clue what I'm looking at when it comes to the logs, but I'm sure others in here can help out (ya know, in here.... the Matrix..). Good luck!
