GoPro + Gimbal functions & features Help

So I'm a beginner PIC to the 3DR Solo, and I have been reading a lot about the Solo + Gimbal having the ability to communicate with the GoPro when attached to the Gimbal, giving you the use of certain functions/features. A few being the ability to Start/Stop Recording, Shoot photos on command & being able to cycle through the GoPro's camera modes. Now I must be dumb or something because i CAN NOT for the life of me figure out these functions. I am looking for an explanation on how to properly use these features or at the least a better understanding of how to enable them.

Did you read section 6.1.4 of the Solo User Manual? It's all explained there. Just make sure that you set the app for your particular GoPro model (click on the settings sliders just below the big Record button, then click on GoPro Model, then select your model).

I'll double check that once I get home, but I'm fairly certain I did that under the settings.

Are using a GoPro 4 black?
