Ok, I know we are getting some updates later this year, hopefully sooner than later :) But what is on the horizon? Object recognition and tracking would be nice. Don't really care for object avoidance or optical flow Are there any rumors out there of what is in development?

I'd like to see the distress locator beacon activate automatically when it enters any failsafe mode, or when it detects a crash. That would actually be a very simple add for them while working through other code changes.

Optical flow & Lidar have been proven to work.
Seen some video of a quad, with Pixhawk 2 "Same as we have" go up a very steep mountain "Ski slope" antominisly "Following surface contour" some parts of Ski slope, the incline was @ 45%!

@Pedals2Paddles

Should be too hard?
Maybe one of those PI "$5" computers transmitting a VHF signal to a directional/range finder?

Rex, that's a great idea...maybe add a small battery in case the main flight battery separates from Solo.

That might decrease flight time too much to be effective due to the added weight. I think that it would be very difficult to have the battery detach in flight any way.

Sam, yea it's always a trade-off/balancing act. The flight battery can and sometimes will separate from the Solo during a crash. My personal experience with this is limited to a single event...thankfully!

It is very common for the battery to detach when it crashes as it hits the ground / trees / etc.

Thanks for the additional info P2P. I thought it likely that my experience was not an isolated occurrence (especially after reading of similar events) but I TRY not to generalize.

Oh man, I wish I could share details about what I'm working on. I'm working to get it into my app before I release it. Object tracking: It's in there. :-D
