FAA: Flight Advisory - GPS Interference

UAV pilots,

The FAA has issued a Flight Advisory for potential GPS Interference mainly located in Southern California but affects several states. Be prepared to uses a manual flight mode if Solo reverts to Fly:Manual.

We had a ton of lightening last night with more expected today. I would have loved to launch from my yard last night for the light show, but I knew better. It was a dangerous storm as it was mostly air to ground.

This sounds like they are generating some GPS interference and testing the results. I don't think this is predicting 'naturally' occurring GPS interference, but I could be wrong.

Either way, I am going to play it safe and leave it in it's case for today.

Yes sir you are correct. It is not a natural GPS interference. That is why the FAA has issued a NOTAM (Notices to Airmen) with the exact time, location, and duration of this event. This event "may result in unreliable and unavailable GPS signal".
