you don't have to convert to cineform or prores, fcpx plays gopro files natively. you can convert to prores if you rmac is struggling to play the native gopro. but every time you transcode you lose a generation of quality. i would only do it if absolutely necessary.

also you don't have to use HEVC. the hevc decoding support is limited at the moment. fcpx and compressor doesn't even have it.

Ok thanks Frank for your info. Will stick with H.264 straight into FCP see how it goes.
