Because it was costing them over 400 bucks to make each bird. Selling them at 299 is not, as my economics professor would say, a sustainable income model

This is a really great platform and an excellent value. I got mine with gimbal and 2 extra batteries last year at this time from Best Buy for $299.....
Plus tax..... I’ll never understand why 3DR put the Solo out to pasture......

No, I signed up to learn and have fun but this drone has been nothing but a dissapointment. None of the batteries will fly for more than 40 seconds

Try the battery recalibration procedure. Look here or on the Ardupilot Wiki
