I imagine you're referring to the 2 tabs at the wire side of the pin that wrap around and grip the insulation of the wire (when crimped) that prevents the pin from being inserted into the housing?
Yep.
 
I'm not sure how easy they'll be to mount on the Solo, but there's some properly designed M8 GPS units coming for the Pixhawk 2, these will have a sufficiently sized ground plate and the necessary filtering.

At that point I'll consider testing one, assuming it's even practical to install (they'll be physically bigger).

finally installed a neo m8 in one of my Solo's, it's been sitting in my shop for a month now. Picking up satellites app. 10 percent quicker, more importantly here in the pacific NW, I'm able to get sufficient lock in small clearings surrounded by 150' + trees to launch. In the past I've had to pull out the white bird when in the woods.
