Hi everyone,
I haven't been on the forum for 4 or 5 years, I don't think I've flown my Solo (or any drone) for about that long, and as I'm moving house, I'm looking at my Solo fleet and infinite spare parts and wondering if I should throw or give it all away (if anyone would even want it)... however before I do that, I'm curious if there had been any significant advances in the last few years to revive Solo's usefulness, like in the area of batteries and software. I might be inspired to keep it all and fly again if someone managed to make batteries identical to the originals that would clip in, maybe even extend flight time past 10 minutes, and if the software will still run on modern tablets. So I don't want anyone writing an essay, but just a few lines to bring me back up to speed on what has happened in this space, if anything at all.
Cheers,
Damien

Solo is alive and well. You can get batteries rebuilt, or get a BMSOne to use standard batteries. This and more can be found on SoloFlies.net

The Solo firmware has been updated (Open Solo 4) and allows the use of the most current Arducopter firmware. The documentatiin and instructions for updating are here. Home

The most active place for Solo support is this Facebook group. Log into Facebook

thanks Jon, good to see you continue to support the community... I'll keep them then! The biggest thing for me was having the new batteries strapped in with velcro, just not the look you want for certain types of work or public scenarios. I see there's a solution for that now so hopefully if I can fly from my backyard in my next place (could never do that from my current location), I might get back to flying Solo. Expect another order from me in the future!
