At least according to this...

Americans no longer have to register non-commercial drones with the FAA


It's no secret that I thought this was BS from the start and we've had many arguments on this subject in the past. Now on the flip side, I imagine that you can register if you want. Who knows it may help recover your drone if it gets lost.

Good news...at least for now. Our government overreaches...hobbyists have flown radio control models for decades. Quadcopters are no different.
Call it a drone though and watch otherwise sane people flip out.

I'm not sure there's a direct correlation. Like I said before, there are positive aspects of registration. It's the forced part that I take umbrage with.

Score one for drone pilots. Maybe. The Feds are trying real hard to make it work for all concerned. Registration was one way to trace ownership back to the jerks who compromise safe and responsible drone ops.
