I've read that the wi fi on my go pro should be turned off while in flight. Will be to control my camera using the solo wi fi???

yes should be off. control is done through solo software

Your gopro WiFi will interfere with the solo wifi. Gopro control is done thru the gimbal connection, not gopros wifi.

You don't use the gopro app. You use the Solo app. The solo app controls the settings on your gopro and you can change (most) of them from there (everything except ProTune basically).
