My old 3DR Solo Drone, need help with updates and unlocks too....

I have the 3DR SOLO Drone, I have not flown it in 4 years, does anyone have any suggestions for the Phone app, Samsung Galaxy S24, I also had issues when 3D Robotics stopped producing the updates and discontinued software etc.... just as everyone else did,,, lol...
I really want to fly this thing again, without spending next weeks paycheck to get it operational and GPS safe for return home options,,,,,,, I appreciate any input,

Steve - you will need to install Open Solo 4. The current app for Android is SOLEX, $30 one time from the Play Store. Once SOLEX is installed, everything is done there and should take you a half hour at the most. Then a few calibrations using SOLEX and you should be flying.

I also have a 3DR Solo drone that I have not flown at all. I did do the initial update and instal the app on my tablet and test everything without props.
Will this still function as is with the initial release? Or do I need to move to Open Solo?

When did you do that initial update? It would have to be "back then" as the 3DR app has been gone for a long time. IF it says it's ready to fly, one does NOT need any app just to fly.

If the drone, controller, and app are communicating, updating to Open Solo is fairly painless and very desirable as the original firmware has several very serious issues. The update is done using a current app.

Thank you for the reply. Yes the original update was done while 3DR was still a viable option. Now the two units just sit there. (Now I have interest again). They are ready to fly -)
