Take this as it's meant please.
You've already answered your own question in a way. Having to ask how to select a flight mode should tell you that you probably haven't yet got the depth of knowledge or experience to undertake what you're suggesting.
If you think about flying indoors, in manual mode, to film other people flying other RC aircraft, it should sound inherently not a sensible thing to do given your experience level.
Personally, given few of us have had professional training, I always take an incremental approach to broadening my skills and capabilities.
In other words, small steps might be the way ahead ?
You could maybe do what your asking, one day, given time. Personally, I never would - what's the risk/benefit?
Gentlemen,
I am starting to notice a trend here as to the type of responses I am getting and I feel I may have unintentionally misled you guys as to my experience level. So let me clear that up a little bit just so we are clear about a few things.
The Solo is not by any means my first RC aircraft, I am a very experienced RC pilot having flown for nearly 30 years considerable having experience in everything from powered sailplanes to pylon racers to sport aerobatic biplanes, not to mention several smaller quads, I do not feel that flying the Solo indoors is by any means beyond my skill level. Especially considering the venue I am speaking of is nearly 2 1/2 stories high with the area of 3 soccer fields side by side by side. It is a monster big building that is one wide open span, which is why we fly there to begin with. So we are not talking about a garage or a basement or even a high school gym here. Also, the group that flies here is very small (about 8 individuals on the average day) and everyone stands along the outside + we are only allowed to do so when there is nothing else scheduled so I would not be flying over a crowd of people. I do appreciate that everyone is so safety conscious here but for future reference (at least in this specific instance) lets assume for the sake of discussion that if I haven't thought of everything safety wise, that I have already been made aware of all the things that could possibly go wrong and move forward. All that being said, what I don't have a lot of experience with or any for that matter is an aircraft that requires GPS in order to fly, and THAT is what I was needing help with. It turns out that the reason I was having difficulties was because I didn't have everything up and running while I was trying to reach the settings I needed, so they were all greyed out. Once I figured out that was the cause of most of my confusion everything else kind of fell into place.
