Was finally able to go out and do a shakedown flight. Very gentle flying. Just testing craft and battery.
Upon unboxing 3 or 4 nights ago, I updated the firmware and performed a level cal. In the field today I calibrated compass. No issues for any of the above.
Very quickly I had 10 satellites and hdop of 1.8, while on the ground. After take-off I had 13 satellites and hdop of 1.6. I was very pleased with how well it hovered over a point, very tight x/y. So that was nice. Toggled briefly between Fly and Fly:manual.
Flew it down to about 45% battery and landed.
My takeaway: 1. Quick satellite lock 2. very stationary hover 3. No surprises or issues = Fun. To add some balance, I will say that I despise the device holder on the RC on what is ultimately a $1,400 product.
