Can I use larger than a smartphone?

I just got a 7 inch tablet for dedicated use with my solo controller, but the "jaws" will not open wide enough to mount it?

Is there something else I need or am I missing something obvious .

Are you turning it sideways? 7" tablet should fit easy.

7" tablet should fit fine, that's what I use. You are turning the mount vertical to clamp the tablet from the sides, not top and bottom?
