While I do agree that Solo has increased knowledge in the DIY community...I do not agree that this is a good thing in drone. It's like being happy that a new car has problems, because it affords me the opportunity to learn how to work on cars.
Good luck, bro! This is a fight I had with these guys a year ago. The idea that the Solo was better than any other drone because you had to modify it to get it to work properly is one that these guys have embraced as doctrine.
Modify the camera to eliminate fish eye.
Modify the GPS so it actually works.
Modify the antenna so it gets decent range.
Buy a different app that works.
Buy multiple units so you always have one that works, tinker, tinker, tinker.
I've pointed out that you can buy a dyi kit with better components to begin with.
Nope, Solo is better.
I pointed out that you can buy a complete drone, like a P4P, that costs close to the same after all of the mods and would still have a much better camera, range, etc.
Nope, Solo has one smart shot that DJI can't do!
Solo tends to have props in the shot.
I like props in my shots.
Solo tends to have a leg get in the shot.
I like that it adds character to my videos and allows me to work on my editing skills.
Even after mods, the range isn't very good.
I don't need to fly far away.
No obstacle avoidance.
Don't need it.
Short flight time.
I don't need a longer flight time.
The Solo is loud.
Helps me locate it in the sky.
It's heavy.
Helps it fight the wind and affords me the opportunity to work on my core strength.
It's not very portable.
Makes it harder to steal.
Is like trying to have an honest conversation with Harley guys about motorcycles! Hahaha!
