Similar observation here. For me, however, the order of powering on didn't matter, the key was to power on the GoPro before inserting it into the gimbal. If I powered it on after inserting it, everything would look fine, but it would record only to phone, not to the GoPro itself. However...

I misunderstood how you "force quit" an iPhone app (which I'd never had to do before), and wasn't doing it right the first time around.

Never mind. Found this tip: "force quit" Solo app on iPhone, then restart app; now video feed works fine. I would have thought powering the iPhone off and on, as I did several times, would have accomplished the same thing, but apparently not.

I rechecked the cables, both to the GoPro and internally in the Solo -- but if this were a cable problem, wouldn't it be impossible to record video? I can record just fine, but I can't see what I'm recording until I land the Solo and download the video from the GoPro.
