CONFIG_LENS_OEM = N

Hacks are perfectly legal, as long as you're modifying your own equipment. Ask Apple who wanted Jailbreaking to be illegal and lost in court lol. It's your hardware/software - you bought it. You do void any warranty though by modifying the vendors hardware/software.
Then, Hack on, Brother! hack on..

We know it is possible
we know its not in a config file
we just need that talented code person to figure it out

That is, unless Konrad is the one that Peau hired to create this mod, and, if so, probably has a NDA/NC. I was talking to Peau and that's what they said they did to come up with this...they hired a "gopro hacker" who created the profile mod for them. Konrad is the only one I've really seen who is up to something like that, so I immediately thought of him when they said that. This is of course, MY speculation...

As far as doing a file comparison against the 2 firmwares, I'm not sure that will yield much of anything. Peau claims their fix is firmware agnostic and won't change when upgrading firmware in the future, so that kind of tells me it's outside of the firmware. Or, at least, the firmware is looking at an external file/settings and there probably wouldn't be any difference between the 2. Speculation...

Konrad up to this point has not created custom gopro firmware, just the various hacks. there are a few people out there who have created custom gopro firmware. i reached out to a guy who made custom firmware for a company and he is working on it as well. it will get done :)

also Konrad wasn't even aware of the need to remove the lens profile because no one is using after market lenses outside the aerial world.

I have been trying to hire someone that could develop custom ROMS for mobile devices for months and had no luck at all

I have made a start and it is working like I said, I am currently mapping the latest H4B firmware and previous 2 versions. Once complete I will need to do the same on a sample removed from a H4B that was on the latest firmware before being sent in for the profile removal. This will increase the chance of finding what we need

It turns out?

Its taking longer then I originally thought, I have the latest firmware mapped but not the latest modified sample. It might still be possible

Thought your going to need that.
I asked in post #26 & no one replied yet...
I say that Peau, would sell more
lens, if we can have this done on are own.

I saw, thanks for trying. I have contacted Peau about opening up a discussion and the possibility of them sending me a copy of the whole firmware and ROM, no reply yet. I have bought a dead H4B with the modifications made so hopefully when it arrives I can get into it and possibly remove the ROM and firmware.

For the uninitiated among us, what settings/features are you altering by manipulating the firmware?

Why are all the different lens setting exactly the same except the lens name?

Because the only difference is the focal length.

These profiles aren't the same. These are just for mission planner to calculate overlap for mapping.
