I put 3" white vinyl tape on all my batteries. The temp of the battery when done flying is way better. No other quad do I know of where the battery is on top and black!

It would be interesting to see measured battery temperature testing results using a tool such as the one from madhacker.org.
I would think that current draw and air temperature would be the biggest factors in internal battery temperature. Never thought that the color of the battery would have any affect in a flight lasting 15 minutes or less.

Mine are in the middle of my lawn to get good GPS and that is where most of the sun is. So if I wait 5-10 minutes to get good GPS lock now you are at 20-25 minutes in the sun and it adds up. I ran tests with insulated foam tape and white bubble wrap. The white vinyl tape seemed just as good. Cool to the touch when it lands.
