Solo won't record although I have live feed?

My solo with gimble and gopro hero3 seem to work correctly apart from the fact it will not allow me to record. I have a live stream but the record button on the right is grey and the small icon of gopro just above record button has a line through it moments after it first appears. Any suggestions to fix this?

The control of the Gopro and the video out are two different systems. The control is via the hero bus on the back of the camera. That is where I would start troubleshooting.
