I am researching different wifi modifications and ultimately developing one that will, theoretically of course, extend the range well beyond line of sight, for proof of concept only.... and I have 3 new Solos specially purchased for this project. I also have several used for parts as well as an Alien Tech for the DJI Phantom, signal boosting system bought off Amazon, several large parabolic dishes in the 2.4 GHz variety, along with a few lightbridge modules to play with, and many varieties of antenna - varying in polarization and configuration. I want to be capable of landing Solo (X) amount of miles from it's pilot when I'm done and having it be due to battery being low, yet still with acceptable signal strength and latency. (Theoretically of course, I would never attempt such an immature and epic feat of wifi tomfoolery)

If you have any unique or compatible equipment with a stock 3DR Solo that you feel would help me hypothetically do this please post below and help me take Solo further...

Interesting!
I'm just here to see what is said cause some of these guys are very intelligent about this stuff.Fpvlr antennas didn't help me as much as others claim.
Good luck with that, like to hear about how far you get.

I honestly thought I'd get some great stuff and ideas from this post but I guess range isn't as big for the rest of the community lol. I will send you a video after we attempt the upgrade if you would like along with what was used for this if that is something you'd be interested in?

I have a brand new Evo Light kit from MaxxUav.com and an Itelite antenna both brand new. I will sell both if I decide to sell my Solo.

How much do you want for the antenna for sure and how much for the lights as well?

Why are you selling your Solo? And if you do decide to and you have a decent reasonable enough price I can always use another on hand for development.

Send me a PM

Velocity,
I'd say it isn't a lack of interest that keeps the replies down, but you were specifically asking for WiFi gear for sale
If you are looking for input, here is mine:
Don't waste your time looking at DJI solutions, expensive and difficult to integrate into Solo.
Basic physics will dictate that you use circularly polarized antennas on all 4 antennas, with a high gain directional antennas on the ground station and omnis on the aircraft. Push out as much power as you can which will require more powerful WiFi cards and/or antenna boosters.
If you have you Ham license you could look at switching to a lower frequency band.
If you really really want (unlimited) range drop 2.4 GHz and go with cellular. Been done on other platforms successfully.

I would love to research anything you have on both of the last options you wrote about! Thank you so much for the reply and the great information and ideas. Do you know which platforms specifically have successfully integrated a cellular signal into them? Also I've heard of using ham radio bandwidths but I haven't seen much on it's actual implementation with this type of thing. I guess what I'm really trying to say is please if you have any material on these two subjects, I would love to look at it! Please send it to me and thanks again!

I don't have anything I can send you right now (at work). My statements come from years of DIY multi rotors, Ham license and old long wire (72 MHz) RC experience. I'd suggest you do some Google searches and try YouTube also.
A good (professional) resource is also www.uasvision.com . They will have links to lots of news article sources.

I have a pair of the Mikro Tik R11e-2hnd Wi-Fi cards both new in antistatic packages. These cards are selling like crazy at $50 each, however I'm only asking for $80 for the pair. I also have a mRo ublox GPS that I will part with for only $75, also brand new unused. I highly recommend the GPS for those individuals who are getting less than 10 sats. I went from only getting around 7sats at my house to 17 after the simple install! If interested in these mods let me know.
