follow me 90 deg off

I am a little new and had good success with orbit mode but when I try follow me it turns to face the camera 90 deg from me. I tried turning it back with yaw and it doesn't respond to yaw only throttle and roll and pitch. What am I doing wrong ? It does try to follow me but turned 90 deg away .. I am using an iPhone 7 plus .

I had the same thing a few days ago. It worked fine the first time but the second time it rotated 90º away from me, then followed. Not sure what's going on. I'm using an iPhone 6, latest updates on controller, app & solo.
