Controller battery external charging

Is there any simple way to externally charge the controller battery? I see it is clearly not a conventional LiPo and has numerous wires.

the stock battery is a 2 cell li-ion and can be charged with any decent battery charger that supports li-ion balance charging such as the powerlab 8v2. but you will need a custom charge adapter as the solo battery has 5 wires and a 2s li-ion only has 4. i'm not sure what the extra wire is for.

frankly there isn't any advantage to charge the battery outside of the controller.

Get the extended battery and you won't have to charge but 1 or 2 times a month. It's amazing how long it lasts.

I haven't yet encountered a reason to want to charge externally either. Just curious.

I managed to cook the charging mechanism on the controller so now the only way I can charge the controller battery is externally. Does anyone have some more specifics on how to go about doing this. Especially concerning the adapter and which wires should be connected to each other.
