Alfa antenna broken?

I went out for flight this morning. Seems to be very humid. I was using the Alfa APA-M25
(10 dbi) antenna with the 6" extension. 740' out and 335' up.
The RSSI was -70 DB. This is in a marshland area. I swapped out the high gain antenna and replaced it with the stock antenna. There was no difference in signal. I double checked the connections and everything was tight. Anybody else have this issue with high gain antennas?

I used them once and couldn't say I noticed a great improvement but other people have reported great success. I actually sent mine back because I heard something rattling around in one of them. I'm waiting on a replacement set. I wasn't expecting a miracle for the $18 I paid for them so I'm not disappointed either.
