I would let dad fly solo all day long but with the gimbal removed... Worst case you are out sixty bucks VS three hundred :)

Not that I'm looking for 120 second flight times but curious about your light setup. are you using the accessory port? post some pics if yay have.

Bad may not be the correct term and I'm quite sure a bit more practice by myself will/would make my footage better/more stable but I guess I was expecting it to be a bit more stable out of the box. If my main purpose for the Solo was a platform for footage I'd look into the various 'jello'...

Gopro = good ( or good enough) 3dr gimbal = bad (or not good enough) to stabilize the payload.

Hard to say but I have heard B&H are sticklers for returns having 100% of what they sent. If they show a battery (free bat) not back with the kit they may ship the bundle back to you :) In terms of price it goes up and down at B&H and Amazon has them back .. then they are out and then back...

I'm rather impatient or should I say have gotten used to turning drone's on and flying. My two Solo's have Rev B's and both are ready to fly in under 30 seconds with 10 sat's to 13-14. I'm not sure what 17+ sat's get's you to be honest. I could see doing this if you had a rev a that did not...

That may be true but unfortunately that's about all (40) the gimbal is worth to me. The footage from the Solo with $200 + gimbal is awful! I now have 3 new gimbal's and they all handle the same. I thought it was the wind but even in calm when comparing the footage from my P4P or MP or heck...
