Will an external display save me that much time?

Right, the res is much lower, but I can at least preview what I shot and see if I need another pass

I can do that on my phone, but I just like my iPad ; )

The higher end models of the surface, the i7 versions have screens that are like Apples higher end laptops.

What I bought was a dell 15" Inspiron 7000, current edition. I7 6700HQ, which means hyper threaded, 16Gb of RAM, 1TB SSD, 500GB of ultra fast M2 SSD - this reads and writes close to 900mbs. An Nvidia 950 with 4GB or RAM, and it can playback 4K to an external display. You can upgrade this to a 4K screen, but frankly at this size of screen, you won't see it. Save the cash, buy a Samsung 28" 4K for about $400.

If it should look and perform like a tablet, this is the Surface.
