Has anyone thought to question how charged or uncharged the battery is could effect heating. A USB port charges at 5V, if Solo is supplying 5V to the GP connector some step down is happening to the 3.8V (assume) the GP uses. Add HDMI output to the equation and more heat is generated. Heat is compounding if it can't dissipate properly, so streaming, recording and external powering for 5 minutes before a flight could be enough to not recover quick enough in just warmer weather.

fwiw, there is about a 2mm gap between the GP back and gimbal interface. Not saying there is good airflow, but the lack of contact does allow the heat to dissipate. The problem lies with the GP not the Solo gimbal.

There are two power inputs on the bus connector. One is charge + power. The other is power only. The solo is using the power only connection. The battery neither charging nor discharging. In fact, you could remove it and it would stay on. I don't believe the state of the battery will have any effect.

I also own GP Hero black....I notice a couple of times, got hot to touch.
