Hello,
Been following the forum during my three month wait for my Solo gimbal from B & H. Finally received the gimbal last week and was generally happy with the performance but disappointed with the lack of control of the GoPro functionality during flight. Since 3DR pitched Solo as being the UAV that allows users to control the GoPro through its app, I assumed that at least meant there would be somewhat of a menu or options for direct control of the GoPro during flight. Me being an experienced videographer, but a noobie UAV operator, the control of the GoPro was what really sold me.
There's essentially no control over the GoPro other than Start/Stop Record. Both the DJI and Typhoon have some controls of aperture, ISO, etc... You can't even change the recording format (1080p, 2.7k, 4k) or frame rate without landing the solo, turning everything off, and taking the GoPro off the gimbal. I guess you could also just land the solo, turn off the solo wifi, then switch the to GoPro Wifi, but even then you have to take the GoPro out of the gimbal since there's no way to press the top button of the GoPro while in the gimbal in order to turn on the GoPro Wifi.
Just wondering if anyone else has an opinion on this, whether or not you think this is a dealbreaker at all, if you think firmware in the future with add some functionality, etc...
Appreciate your thoughts!
Doug
