You are correct. DJI Phantom use their own video transmission protocol-LightBridge

To be clear, if you mount an analog camera and transmission system to Solo then this would work. Which is probably what you have seen on a Phantom. But you are bypassing the built-in video transmission system.

Certain DJI controller (eg P3 Advance has a plugin board with hdmi output for tv and monitor.

Solo's Controller also has HDMI out. Not really the question that was asked however.

If it has an HDMI in port it would work with the Solo controller.
