I am sure it is, among other things.... to not "radiate" the smartphone which is also on a wifi to the controller and also to not get radiated by the smartphone.
Also to note if one uses a smartphone with cell phone feature still running , a typical GSM phone is quite "dirty" when it rings, try placing a GSM phone close on any sound system and you get a bit of the RF leak.
I use dedicated small Samsung android with no SIM card. I will not use any smartphone which can take phone calls or has GSM or CDMA in service
Proximity to another transmitter I want to avoid.
But work load and needing to drive far from my crowded residence to find legal & quiet open field is a challenge, me have not fly the Solo yet .
