One of my pods went bad ----- is it repairable or do I just throw it out ?

Anything is repairable. It depends on how it went bad as too whether it is worth repairing.

It did the one click turn at power on then shuts off power ---------

That is usually a short in the power lines or a seriously screwed data line [like permanently shorted to Vcc or GND line]
