So I have been doing a TON of research on what tablets would be best to view your video feed during flight. I have finally found a bunch of info. I couldn't really see my screen at all today in the direct sun, so It got me thinking maybe a different tablet would be better. So here are some interesting results of the brightness settings for the different tablets now. I didn't include any 10" except 1 (it's the brightest) Nokia Lumia, because I don't think they would fit in our controller.

I am including the links at the bottom if you care to see the reviews.

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 --- Dell Venue 8 --- Google Nexus 7 (2013) --- Kindle Fire HDX 7
Max brightness --- 337 cd/m2 --- 356 cd/m2 --- 570 cd/m2 --- 430 cd/m2
Maxblack level --- 0.34 cd/m2 --- .43 cd/m2 --- 0.44 cd/m2 --- .37 cd/m2
Maximum contrast ratio --- 991:1 --- 828:1 --- 1295:1 --- 1162:1
Pixels-per-inch --- 189 ppi --- 189 ppi --- 323 ppi --- 323 ppi

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Apple iPad Mini --- Nokia Lumia --- 2520 Apple iPad Air
Maximum brightness --- 399 cd/m2 --- 676 cd/m2 --- 421 cd/m2---
Maximum black level --- 0.49 cd/m2 --- 0.53 cd/m2 --- 0.39 cd/m2---
Maximum contrast ratio --- 814:1 --- 1,281:1 --- 1,079:1---
Pixels per inch --- 163ppi --- 218ppi --- 264ppi ---

Hope this helps someone. Also I read that SOME Android devices when you set the Auto Brightness to ON in direct sun gets even brighter than on Max brightness. So try that if you are having issues with not being able to see the screen.

Scroll down to the middle of the page and the brightness levels are there

Sorry about the lists.. Formatting wouldn't work right. You just to line up the columns.. I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 and it was impossible to see in direct light, so I had to stand under shady tree and even then it wasn't easy. I am sure the Nexus would be really good.

Another thing I read is polarizing sunglasses MIGHT help depending on your screen. Some screens it might work in portrait OR landscape.

Another tip is to try and get a Anti Glare screen protector also.

I am going to look into a shade of some kind, and since I am not handy I might just see if I can pay someone to make one. :)
