Well I am pleased to say my Solo was hands down better on its first flight than my first quad built around an ardupilot APM 2.6 flight controller, 3d printed body, and 3DR/HobbyKing parts (circa 2013). It only took a month to get it to fly right being a newbie.
Seriously, other than taking a long time to acquire satellites (4 minutes), the craft was very stable and held its position as good as my F550 Naza V2 hex build. I took off and landed manually but then tried the return to home landing and it worked flawlessly. It was interesting however when it landed and it was one sat down. It would say acquiring sats even though it had 12 (down 1 from 13).
Anyway I am happy so far and I think the gimbal is going to make or break this quad. I am personally glad 3DR is holding off launching the gimbal until the kinks are worked out. I am rooting for 3DR because having many competitors in this new technology will be good for us consumers.
Cheers
