No access to GoPro modes

hello everyone, I'm new to this site and I just bought my drone. I already changed the name of my drone but I have no control over the GoPro video modes. I have a video feed and I can press record sometimes. Can anyone shed some lights on this issue.

I don't have a gimbal yet, do I need this in order to control the GoPro?

Yes you need the gimbal to control the GoPro and to achieve stable video.
How much research did you do before you purchased your Solo?

I did a fair amount before the purchase

I know that th gimbal is needed for the angles, but I was referring to switching from video to photos and changing GoPro video setting on the controller
