New 3DR solo, what app can I use on IOS?

Hello,
New to this forum, just came into a new 3DR solo, it is asking for a preflight update. I heard sidepilot is the IOS app to get to help connecting, wondering if there is any other way around it, maybe a free app? would appreciate any feedback.

Unfortunately, there is no "free" option. SidePilot is very inexpensive, and you'll definitely need it to update past the preflight screen.
If you don't use SidePilot, one way to update it to a flying state is to open both drone and controller to access the SD cards, which must be flashed.

You really want SidePilot!

You can also manually update using a SCP app (WINSCP for PC). This involves updating some files in both Solo & controller, and issuing several commands via PUTTY (embedded in WINSCP).
