I still miss the first quad I built 2 years ago. She had a good long 3 months of life.

Great video ! Back when the saying 'Build, Fly, Crash, Repeat' had more meaning. It's amazing how far we have come in a few short years. I was building hexes and quads and always buying the latest gadget for them. Around the same time of your video, I had this happen. This was an 800 size hex with a Tarot gimbal. The main XT60 connector had a crack I didn't see so I lost power at a pretty good altitude. I had a separate battery for the camera/gimbal so they were able to stay running for at least part of the fall. What was fascinating about the gimbal, was that even when the hex was falling inverted it still kept the horizon up and level! This is the video quality from the 900mhz feed to the GS. About :50 she quits and goes inverted..You'll see the landing gear stick straight up as the horizon stay level.

Man you lucked out with that one. Since it was dusk, all we could see in the woods was this flashing halo of light. The battery stayed connected, so all the LED strobes were still flashing away in a heap of bent metal. The trees ripped things off on the way down, so it was a 100ft radius of aircraft parts scattered around the woods. Next time I'm going to put little evidence markers out like an NTSB scene.

Ouch... Interesting gimbal. Little tape and some gorilla glue and its be good as new...
It was an FPV Monkey gimbal for a Mobius camera. Balsa wood special.

Build, Fly, Crash, Repeat - I still have my first quadcopter, which I crashed into the bird feeder on my deck, crashed into my house, and crashed into the tree in my back yard. It took me forever to dial that thing in. Without risk there is no reward. I never put a camera on that quadcopter. This is the video of the death of my Iris+ last summer. Although I managed to get her back in the air after her swim, she was so buggy it was really not safe to fly. This summer, as an added safety measure just for over water flights I plan to build floats for my Solo. (I saw someone already did it on this forum.)
