So which pack is better for more time in the air? I pulled apart an old battery for the BMS but now I think I need to go BSMOne or solder the power management directly to the stock box and a LION for longer flight time. Thoughts? Is there a way to re-write the stock BMS to accept a higher Mah than 5200? Thanks

Li-ion for longest flight times. This thread covers much of what you need to know. 3DR Solo with LiIon 9000mAh battery | up to 30min flight time
BMSone is one option. There are others - including an open hardware & source option - eg see the “Happy Solo” thread.
