For camera control you need to have a gimbal. Otherwise, all you can do is start recording before takeoff, and shut it down after landing.

Should I have live feed or is that only possible with a gimbal as well?

Yes, live feed is also only through a gimbal installed on Solo.

I'm assuming "live feed" is just video on your phone/table, ie FPV, and a gimbal is NOT needed, a camera HDMI out connected to the HDMI line is all that's needed.
